Descripción:Jasmone is an organic compound that is found in the essential oil of plants of the genus Euphorbia. It has a fruity, lemon-like odor. This chemical is extracted with hydrochloric acid and used as a model system for food composition analysis. Jasmone can be used as a flavoring agent in foods and beverages or to give fragrances to soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and perfumes. It also has been shown to have antifungal properties against certain bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. Jasmone inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and increasing cell death due to apoptosis.
