It is an analog of salicylic acid and has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. Acetylsalicylic acid sodium salt also induces apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit heparin-induced platelet aggregation and reduce the risk of blood clots. This drug has potential anticancer properties due to its ability to inhibit chitin synthesis, which is necessary for tumor growth and survival. Acetylsalicylic acid sodium salt may be useful as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of cancer and other diseases associated with abnormal kinase activity.
