Descripción:Abietic acid is a natural compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It is a p-glycoprotein inhibitor, which prevents the efflux of organic compounds from cells. Abietic acid is also an antimicrobial agent and has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth through its antimicrobial peptide activity. This compound has been shown to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus pyogenes. It also has strong antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria like Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Abietic acid inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids in nepeta cataria (catnip), which may have therapeutic properties for inflammatory disorders.
