Descripción:Guaiacylglycerol-beta-guaiacyl ether is a fatty acid that is synthesized through the synthetic pathway by marine microorganisms. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and is effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease. Guaiacylglycerol-beta-guaiacyl ether also has chaperone activity and can protect proteins from degradation by heat, oxidation, or proteases. This compound has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro. Guaiacylglycerol-beta-guaiacyl ether also exhibits antioxidant properties and enhances the therapeutic effects of taxol, a drug used for cancer treatment. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy revealed that guaiacylglycerol-beta-guaiacyl ether binds to the disulfide bond of proteins, with an activation energy of 65 kcal/mol.
