• Descripción: Nebivolol HCl is a beta-blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is a prodrug that is metabolized in vivo to its active form, nebivolol. Nebivolol HCl has a low bioavailability of about 5%, which may be due to the presence of excipients or the formation of solid dispersions with other ingredients in the formulation. Nebivolol HCl also interacts with many drugs that are metabolized by CYP2D6, CYP3A4, and CYP1A2 enzymes, such as metoprolol succinate, sodium citrate, and hydrochloric acid. This drug also has an adverse effect on geriatric patients because it can cause dizziness due to orthostatic hypotension.
