Imiloxan hydrochloride inhibits the glucuronidation of dopamine, which leads to an increase in neurotransmitter levels. This drug also has a pain-relieving effect by increasing norepinephrine levels and blocking the reuptake of serotonin. Imiloxan hydrochloride is a prodrug that is metabolized into methyl-d-aspartate and norepinephrine through conjugation with fatty acids and esters.
