• Descripción: 5-Nitro-2-furfuraldazine (5NFD) is a retested, statistically significant carcinogen that has been shown to cause mammary tumors in female rats. 5NFD is a nitrosamine and a formamidine. It has been shown to have biological activity as an inhibitor of mitosis in fibroadenomas and mammary tumors. It inhibits mitosis by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis, which leads to the death of tumor cells. 5NFD has also been found to induce pleomorphism in human lymphocytes.
