It is the methyl ester of trandolaprilat, a cardioselective angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that has been used in the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure. Trandolaprilat methyl ester is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a melting point of 135-138 ˚C. It is soluble in methanol and ethanol, but insoluble in water.
