• Descripción: Sodium D,L-malate is a cyclic anhydride of malic acid. It is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of 175°C and a molecular weight of 176.3. Sodium D,L-malate has been shown to have anti-apoptotic properties by inhibiting the apoptosis pathway. The mechanism of action is not yet known, but it may be related to the cycle in which this compound participates. The enzyme that catalyzes the first step in this cycle is malate dehydrogenase and it has been shown to be involved in the metabolic pathways of glycerol and pyruvate.
