2,3-Dimethyl-b-cyclodextrin is a cyclodextrin that has a hydroxyl group at the 2 position and is also known as β-2,3-dimethyl-b-cyclodextrin. It has no effect on the pH of water and therefore does not affect the analytes. This compound can be used to modify or selectively extract substances from a mixture. The compound binds to chiral molecules by hydrogen bonding, which leads to an increase in the boiling point and solubility of these molecules. 2,3-Dimethyl-b-cyclodextrin can be used as an analyte in chromatography due to its high retention factor and selectivity.
