It is an activator of ribonucleotide reductase, which converts ribonucleosides to deoxyribonucleosides and thereby prevents viral replication. 2',3',5'-Tri-O-benzoyl-4'-C-fluoroadenosine has antiviral activity against influenza A virus and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) in cell culture.
