Description :
Nystatine est un médicament antifongique principalement utilisé pour traiter les infections fongiques, en particulier celles causées par des espèces de Candida. C'est un antibiotique macrolide polyène dérivé de la bactérie Streptomyces noursei. Nystatine présente une couleur jaunâtre caractéristique et est soluble dans le diméthylsulfoxyde (DMSO) et légèrement soluble dans l'eau, ce qui limite son utilisation systémique en raison de la toxicité potentielle. Le mécanisme d'action implique la liaison à l'ergostérol, un composant clé des membranes cellulaires fongiques, entraînant la formation de pores qui perturbent l'intégrité de la membrane et entraînent la mort cellulaire. Nystatine est généralement administré par voie topique ou orale, selon le type et l'emplacement de l'infection, et est couramment utilisé dans le traitement de la candidose buccale et des infections cutanées.
