    Ro 10-5824 is a new drug that has been shown to have the ability to enhance dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) release in the brain. It binds to GABAA receptor complexes, which are composed of 5 subunits: alpha1, alpha2, beta1, beta2 and gamma2. Ro 10-5824 is a novel GABAA receptor modulator that binds to the beta2 subunit with high affinity. Ro 10-5824 has been shown in animal models to increase locomotor activity and improve motor function. In humans, Ro 10-5824 increased DA levels in the striatum by binding to the D4 receptor and enhanced GABA transporter activity.
