CAS :Produit contrôléDehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a steroid hormone that is produced in the adrenal glands and gonads. The conversion of DHEA to estrone, androstenedione, and testosterone takes place in the liver. The enzymes involved in this conversion are CYP17A1, 17B1, and 17B2, which convert DHEA to estrone and testosterone; CYP17A1 also converts DHEA to androstenedione. Estrogens bind to estrogen receptors on cells throughout the body, influencing gene expression and protein synthesis. Estradiol binds with high affinity to the estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), while other estrogens such as estrone bind to ERβ with lower affinity. 6-Dehydroestrone is an intermediate metabolite of estradiol that can be detected in urine samples using a tritiated compound assay.
