CAS :Ethyl 4,4,4-Trifluoroacetoacetate is a compound that is used to synthesize enantiopure compounds. It is prepared by the reaction of p-nitrophenyl phosphate with trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of ethylene diamine and sodium carbonate. The first step in the synthesis is the formation of a hemiacetal from the p-nitrophenyl phosphate and ethylene diamine. This hemiacetal reacts with an amine to form a secondary aminium salt. The second step involves hydrolysis of this aminium salt with sodium carbonate to produce an ester product and ammonium chloride. Finally, addition of trifluoroacetic acid leads to formation of the desired product. Ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoroacetoacetate has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin
