(R)-2-Methylpyrrolidine is a synthetic quaternary ammonium compound that is a reaction yield enhancer. It has been shown to have histamine-lowering effects in vitro and in vivo. The pharmacokinetic properties of (R)-2-Methylpyrrolidine are characterized by moderate distribution and elimination half-life times. It is also active at the h3 receptors, which may be related to its wake-promoting effects. (R)-2-Methylpyrrolidine has been shown to increase the levels of amines in the brain, which may be associated with its antidepressant activity.
