Description :
Gadolinium est un métal rare de couleur argentée, malléable et ductile, classé sous la série des lanthanides dans le tableau périodique. Il a le numéro atomique 64 et est connu pour ses propriétés magnétiques uniques, en particulier sa capacité à devenir ferromagnétique à température ambiante, ce qui est relativement rare parmi les lanthanides. Gadolinium est hautement réactif, surtout sous forme de poudre, et peut s'oxyder rapidement lorsqu'il est exposé à l'air, formant une couche d'oxyde protectrice. Il a un point de fusion élevé et est souvent utilisé dans diverses applications, y compris en imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM) comme agent de contraste en raison de ses propriétés paramagnétiques.
