    Fmoc-D-2,6-dimethyltyrosine is a bifunctional compound that has potent antibacterial activity. It is a selective inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme e3 ubiquitin ligase and can be used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as Mycobacterium avium complex and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Fmoc-D-2,6-dimethyltyrosine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animals with inflammatory diseases, which may be due to its inhibition of toll-like receptor signaling pathways. Fmoc-D-2,6-dimethyltyrosine also inhibits messenger RNA synthesis in cancer cells and can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment. This drug has also been shown to inhibit DNA replication and transcription in eukaryotic cells, suggesting it may have applications for the treatment of HIV infection.
