CAS :Cyclo(-D-Leu-D-Pro) is a macrolide that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit and prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Cyclo(-D-Leu-D-Pro) has been shown to have antibacterial activity against the Gram negative bacterium Vibrio anguillarum. This drug has also been shown to have endophytic properties, as it was isolated from an endophytic fungus found in leaves of Eucalyptus trees.
