The amide form of H-Phe-Leu-Leu-Arg-Asn has also been shown to have site specific activity on ventricular myocardium cells, which may be related to its ability to induce cytosolic calcium release. Basophilic leukemia cells produce HPLR at high levels and it is thought that this is due to an increased requirement for the production of collagen in these cells.
