Z-Glu-Tyr
CAS :Z-Glu-Tyr is a synthetic substrate of the enzyme cathepsin B. The amino acid sequence of Z-Glu-Tyr has been shown to be identical to the sequence of the natural substrate, L-glutaminyl-L-tyrosine. The activity of the enzyme cathepsin B can be inhibited by Z-Glu-Tyr due to its ability to form a covalent bond with cysteine residues in the active site. This inhibition prevents cleavage of peptide bonds and synthesis of polypeptides, which are necessary for cell growth and division.
