Lysine hydrobromide is a salt form of lysine that can be used to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria. This inhibition can take place at either the transcriptional or translational level, but not both simultaneously. The inhibition of protein synthesis prevents the cell from growing and reproducing. Lysine hydrobromide has been shown to have a regulatory effect on enzyme activities in corynebacterium glutamicum (a type of bacteria).
