Peptides

  • Lugdunin

    CAS :

Lugdunin is a synthetic antibiotic that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the cell membrane. This binding causes a change in membrane potential, leading to inhibition of bacterial growth and death. Lugdunin is effective against Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant strains, and has been found to be safe for use in humans. It is also active against other Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecalis. The enantiomer of lugdunin does not have antibacterial activity.
