- Fenchyl alcohol
Fenchol alcohol is a natural molecule that has been identified as a new intermediate in the acetate extract of the bark of Fraxinus excelsior. It is an oxygenated molecule with a ph optimum of 8.5 and an x-ray crystal structure. Fenchol alcohol reacts with hydrogen ions, which are released from water molecules during photosynthesis, to produce hydrogen bonds. Fenchol alcohol can be found on the surface of many plants and it is a constituent of some fatty acids.
