Description

Methyl stearate is a methyl ester of stearic acid. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties in vitro assays. Methyl stearate also activates polymorphonuclear leucocytes, which are cells that help the body fight infection. Methyl stearate is a natural compound that can be extracted from vegetable oils or animal fats. It is often used as a food additive, but it can also be found in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The melting point of this substance ranges from 36 to 48 degrees Celsius and its chemical formula is C17H35O2. Methyl stearate has been shown to have biochemical properties such as lipid synthesis inhibition and antioxidant activity, as well as thermodynamic data such as vapor pressure and solubility in water.
