(R)-2-Amino-5-methoxytetraline is a dopamine receptor agonist that binds to the GTPγs binding site on the G protein. This drug binds competitively with other ligands such as dopamine and is capable of displacing them from their binding sites. (R)-2-Amino-5-methoxytetraline has been shown to increase dopamine levels in the brain, which may be due to its ability to stimulate the release of this neurotransmitter. The affinity of this drug for its target site has been shown by extracting it from calf thymus DNA and measuring its ability to bind to the receptor on a trackable plate. ((R)-2-Amino-5-methoxytetraline) also exhibits antagonist effects against dopamine receptors, which may be due to its ability to enhance the production of cAMP in cells.
