Endoxifene

Endoxifene è un modulatore selettivo del recettore degli estrogeni (SERM) principalmente noto per il suo ruolo nel trattamento del cancro al seno, in particolare nei pazienti con tumori positivi ai recettori degli estrogeni. È un metabolita attivo del tamoxifene, comunemente usato nella terapia ormonale per il cancro al seno. Endoxifene presenta proprietà sia estrogeniche che antiestrogeniche, a seconda del tipo di tessuto, il che consente di inibire la crescita di tumori dipendenti dagli estrogeni, preservando potenzialmente gli effetti estrogenici benefici in altri tessuti. Z-Endoxifen is the active metabolite of tamoxifen (FT32122, BT164438, FT27994) that acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme aromatase and as inhibitor of the binding of estradiol to estrogen receptors. As an antitumour agent, Z-endoxifen has shown that it has the potential to treat endocrine-resistant estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers. Endoxifen is the most effective non-competitive inhibitor of aromatase by conferring molecular rigidity upon binding.
