The drug is well absorbed through the gut and metabolized in the liver, with a half life of about 3 hours. It is excreted in urine, feces, and exhaled air. Doses must be stable for it to be effective. The drug is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance because it can be abused or lead to dependence.
