STAT3 is involved in the regulation of cancer cell proliferation and survival, as well as the suppression of inflammation. STAT3-IN-1 has been shown to inhibit tumor growth by blocking IL-10 production and attenuating tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP)-1 expression. It also inhibits chemoresistance in breast cancer cells by reducing NF-κB activity, which leads to increased apoptosis and decreased proliferation rates.
