1,2-Dioleil-sn-glicero-3-fosfoetanolamina (DOPE) è un fosfolipide comunemente usato in biochimica e biologia molecolare. Applications 1,2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) is a synthetic analog of naturally-occurring PE containing 18:1 fatty acids at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions. DOPE can be used as an emulsifier to facilitate DNA-liposome complex transport across membranes. It is used in combination with cationic phospholipids to increase efficiency during DNA transfection studies as a non-viral method of gene delivery.

1,2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DOPE) is a synthetic lipid that has been extensively studied for its ability to form liposomes and other lipid bilayers. DOPE is used as a model system for studying the phase transition temperature of phospholipid membranes. DOPE has also been shown to be effective in the transfection of cells with plasmids and other DNA molecules. DOPE is cationic, which allows it to interact with anionic membrane proteins and facilitate their insertion into the membrane. This facilitates the formation of multilamellar vesicles, which are necessary for vesicle budding and fusion.
