Descrizione:
Lattulosio è un disaccaride sintetico composto da fruttosio e galattosio, utilizzato principalmente come lassativo e nel trattamento dell'encefalopatia epatica. È un liquido incolore o giallo chiaro, viscoso e solubile in acqua, il che ne facilita la somministrazione. Lattulosio non viene assorbito nel tratto gastrointestinale, il che gli consente di esercitare i suoi effetti attirando acqua nel colon, ammorbidendo le feci e promuovendo i movimenti intestinali. Inoltre, viene fermentato dai batteri colici, producendo acidi grassi a catena corta e abbassando il pH, il che può aiutare a ridurre i livelli di ammoniaca nei pazienti con malattia epatica. Lattulosio ha un sapore dolce, rendendolo gradevole per il consumo orale.
