S-Methylisothiouronium sulfate (SMTS) is a drug that is used as an antidiabetic agent. It has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity and lower plasma glucose levels, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of creatine kinase. In addition, SMTS increases cytosolic calcium levels and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
