This binding leads to an increase of intracellular levels of hydrogen peroxide and reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to increased cell apoptosis. CAY10566 also inhibits autophagy, a process that assists in the degradation of cellular components during starvation or other unfavorable conditions.
