2-Mercaptothiazoline is a molecule with a molecular weight of 166.2 g/mol and a chemical formula of C6H5NS. It has a high level of resistance to hydrochloric acid, hydroxyl group, and inhibitor molecules. 2-Mercaptothiazoline may be used as an adsorbent for the removal of organic solvents from waste water. Langmuir adsorption isotherms were shown for human serum proteins in this molecule's presence as well as its use in the removal of hydrogen bond and radiation enhancement. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that 2-mercaptothiazoline forms tetranuclear complexes when dissolved in an electrolyte solution. X-ray crystal structures show that 2-mercaptothiazoline binds to the phosphate groups on DNA and inhibits the enzymatic activity at these sites.
