Lanthanum(III) acetate sesquihydrate is used in specialty glass and in water treatment. It is used in the preparation of phenolate-bridged dilanthanum(III) complex, which is considered as a model for metalloproteins in applied chemistry. Further, it is used to prepare nanoparticulate porous lanthanum oxyfluoride (LaOF) films. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
