Hydriodic acid is used to convert primary alcohol into alkyl iodide. It is used in organic and inorganic synthesis as one of the primary sources of iodine as well as a reducing agent. It is also used to cleave the ethers to get alkyl iodides and alcohols. This Thermo Scientific brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
