2-Chloroethyl p-Toluenesulfonate is a chemical intermediate used in the production of butyric acid, styrene and acetonitrile. It can be purified by chromatographic methods and is not considered to contain genotoxic impurities or any other toxic substances. This chemical intermediate is used in the synthesis of drugs, such as varian. The product has been shown to have no mutagenic effects on bacteria cultures, but does have some cytotoxic properties.
