Descrizione:
Geranyl proprionate is a diphenyl ether, found in the essential oils of lavandula angustifolia. It has shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria and fungi, which may be due to its ability to disrupt energy metabolism. Geranyl proprionate is used as a sample preparation agent for gas chromatography, where it immobilizes fatty acids onto multi-walled carbon particles. This process can also be used for the determination of fatty acid composition in food products. Geranyl proprionate has also been shown to function as an enzyme catalyst that increases the rate at which propionate is converted into acetic acid.
