Descrizione

Diethylene glycol monolaurate is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the group of glycol esters. It is used to treat pain and inflammation caused by arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis. Diethylene glycol monolaurate inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase. This inhibition reduces inflammation, thereby providing relief from pain and swelling. Diethylene glycol monolaurate has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism for this activity may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis or its ability to act as a substrate for film formation on the surface of cells.
