1-(6-Hydroxy-4,7-dimethoxy-benzofuran-5-yl)-ethanone is a heterocycloalkyl compound that has shown modulating effects on autoimmune diseases and cancer. It is able to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines by suppressing the activation of transcription factors such as NF-κB and AP1, which are involved in the regulation of genes responsible for inflammation. 1-(6-Hydroxy-4,7-dimethoxy-benzofuran-5-yl)-ethanone also inhibits potassium ion channels and hydrogen bond interactions with other molecules, blocking their function.
