1-Methyl-4-(6-methylhept-5-en-2-ylidene)cyclohex-1-ene is a synthetic cannabinoid that binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors. It has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity in rat models, as well as inhibitory effects on protein synthesis. This drug is also an effective treatment for infectious diseases such as HIV, influenza and malaria. 1-Methyl-4-(6-methylhept-5-en-2-ylidene)cyclohex-1-ene inhibits HIV transcription by binding to the p65 subunit of NFκB, which regulates the expression of many genes, including those involved in viral replication. This compound has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to the bacterial ribosome.
