8-Methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-ene is a deprotonation inhibitor of the cytochrome P450 enzyme system of human liver microsomes. It has been shown to have an effect on the synthesis of monoamines, such as dopamine and serotonin, by blocking their reuptake into the presynaptic neuron. This drug also has an effect on the synthesis of vitamin B6, which is important for nerve function and metabolism in humans. 8-Methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-ene has been shown to be effective in treating migraines and epilepsy, although it may cause drowsiness and dizziness when taken orally.
