3-(Diethylamino)-1,2-propanediol is a chemical that is used in wastewater treatment. It is typically used to remove amines, hydroxide ions, and hydrogen sulfide from wastewater. 3-(Diethylamino)-1,2-propanediol has been shown to be an effective hydrogen donor for the reduction of hydroxyl radicals in plasma mass spectrometry experiments. The reaction rate for this chemical increases as the pH decreases and as the concentration of sodium hydroxide increases. This chemical also reacts with ethanolamine by protonation to form 3-(diethylamino)propane-1,2-diols.
