Butyl p-toluenesulfonate is an organic compound that is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be genotoxic and cytotoxic in mammalian cells. Butyl p-toluenesulfonate is also redox sensitive and can undergo oxidation, which may lead to the production of genotoxic impurities. The catalytic activity of butyl p-toluenesulfonate can be affected by the presence of halides, sulfonic acids, phosphites, or carbonic acid. This product also has optical properties that depend on its concentration and pH level.
