cis-3-Hexen-1-yl benzoate is a terpene that is found in the essential oil of Teucrium chamaedrys and other plants. It can be synthesized from anthranilate, a compound found in plants such as Dianthus caryophyllus and Geranium robertianum. Cis-3-hexenyl benzoate has been shown to have insecticidal properties, and it is thought to act by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis. This terpene also exhibits antimicrobial activity against Dysaphis plantaginea, an aphid that feeds on plants such as Teucrium chamaedrys, and the host plant for this aphid species.
