Imeglimin is a drug that acts as an antidiabetic agent by targeting energy metabolism. Imeglimin also reduces kidney fibrosis and improves mitochondrial membrane potential, redox potential, and ATP levels in liver cells. These drugs should be avoided in patients taking imeglimin to avoid toxic effects on the heart, liver, or kidneys. Imeglimin is metabolized by CYP2C19 into its active form imeglimine.
