4-(2,5-Dimethoxyphenyl)butyric acid is an organic compound that is found in benzophenones. It is synthesized by the reaction of stannous chloride and 2,5-dimethoxyphenol. This compound is a white solid that exists as two different stereoisomers: the alpha form and the beta form. The alpha form can be converted to the beta form by heating it with acetic acid or hydrochloric acid. 4-(2,5-Dimethoxyphenyl)butyric acid can be used as a chemical intermediate for other compounds. The equilibrium between these two forms is reversible, so it can be converted back and forth at any time.
