2-Aminobenzophenone-2²-carboxylic acid is a carbonyl compound that is used in chemical analyses. It has been shown to have fluorescence properties, and its fluorescence lifetime is dependent on the pH of the solution. 2-Aminobenzophenone-2²-carboxylic acid has been synthesized by the addition of nitrobenzene to benzophenone. The regiospecific synthesis yields a mixture of cis and trans isomers, which are separated by fractional crystallization. This compound is thermally stable and reacts with hydrochloric acid to form a red color.
