Descrizione

N,N'-Bis(4-ethoxyphenyl)thiourea is a synthesized chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. The inhibition of this enzyme blocks the synthesis of androgens and estrogens in the prostate gland. This agent has been shown to inhibit tumor growth, especially in breast cancer, by preventing the formation of estrogen. N,N'-Bis(4-ethoxyphenyl)thiourea is also used for long-term treatment of tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. It prevents the formation of fatty acids in these bacteria and thereby inhibits their growth. N,N'-Bis(4-ethoxyphenyl)thiourea exhibits synergistic interactions with other drugs such as doxorubicin or cyclophosphamide.
