4-(Trimethylsilyl)biphenyl is an electrophilic compound that can be used in organic synthesis. It is a byproduct of the coupling reaction between phenylsilanes and boronic acid. 4-(Trimethylsilyl)biphenyl can also be obtained through homocoupling, which involves the oxidation of phenylsilanes with hydrogen peroxide. The yields of this reaction are dependent on the amount of catalyst present and the temperature at which it is conducted. 4-(Trimethylsilyl)biphenyl has been shown to react with arylsilanes to form intramolecular coupling products.
